Acts Chapter 12 prt 1

As we open chapter 12, we find the first political attack against the church. After the conversion of Saul, the attacks subsided somewhat.  But over the years animosity against believers beganto rise.  What we see here in the history of the church is running an eerie parallel with what is transpiring today.  Its time for the church to prepare herself for what may lie ahead.  Back to the history of the text: The public just did not understand...

•  the teachings of Jesus and His followers: how the teachings fulfilled the law; how they could be reconciled with Jewish religion.

•  the evangelistic outbreak of the church: that Jewish believers would be so full of fervor for Christ that they would reach out to convert the whole world. Apparently, the conversion of Cornelius and the founding of churches throughout the Gentile world upset some of the Jews to no end.
